Description Job Title: Custodian FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Director of Facilities Revision Date: March 2026 Grade: 7 Starting Pay Range: $15.00 - $19.80/hour POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y and helps to ensure facilities are well maintained and clean for staff and members of all backgrounds and abilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Must maintain and keep building facility and property in clean and orderly condition such as trash removal, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and vacuuming. · Ensure all restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, program rooms, fitness centers and outside grounds are clean and safe. · Move furniture and equipment as required to properly and thoroughly clean areas including windows. · Assist with event set ups and breaking down of seating and equipment. · Ensure bathroom supplies including and not limited to, toilet tissue, towels, soap etc. are refilled. · During winter months be prepared to assist with snow removal. · Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned. · Notify managers regarding the need for repairs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Occasional work outside the facility to clean the facility grounds such as removal of debris and during inclement weather requiring snow removal. · Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours. · Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders of different heights. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications · Ability to pass a background check. · Must possess a valid State of Vermont driver's license Preferred Qualifications · High school graduate or equivalent preferred · Previous custodial experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Maintain the cleanliness and order of the building facility, including restrooms, fitness centers, and outdoor grounds. Assist with event setups, equipment movement, and light maintenance tasks as assigned.
