Description Position Summary The appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building. Takes out trash and cardboard boxes Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums carpets Washes and sanitizes toilets, sinks and countertops and restock disposables (e.g., soap) Cleans mirrors, doors, and windows Maintains a neat and orderly janitor’s room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked. Performs maintenance and minor repairs (changing HVAC filters, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.) Requirements Required Skills and Abilities Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Detail-oriented and thorough. Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance. Ability to keep the facility clean and orderly. Ability to interact with staff and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous. Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. Must pass a background check. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR).

Responsibilities

The custodian performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building. They also handle maintenance tasks and minor repairs to ensure the facility remains clean and orderly.
