Job Details Job Location: Michigan City, IN 46360 POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy facility by completing various tasks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper, soap supplies and washing windows. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies. Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal. Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas. Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements. (Refer to cleaning schedule). Use power equipment to buff and restore floor and shampoo carpets Adheres to all agency policies and procedures regarding the use and release of confidential information and confidential PHI (Protected Health Information) Adheres to Universal Precautions for all functions, use protective equipment Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL Ability to learn and follow cleaning routine, use judgment in handling non-routine projects such as clean up or spills, use mops, brooms, hand brooms, spray bottles, push cleaning cart and operate power equipment. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Ability to understand verbal instructions. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to understand written and verbal communications. Working Conditioned and Physical Efforts Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 30 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma (or GED) preferred. Equivalent job experience will be considered. Safe and correct use of chemicals. Mix chemicals in correct ratio.
