Description Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Schedule: Part Time 20-28 Hours/Week; Some weekend & evening work required Job Responsibilities: A. Building Maintenance 1. Change light bulbs in all fixtures throughout the church, parish hall, education wing, offices, etc. 2. Maintain floors throughout the facility, including mopping, vacuuming, and use of floor machines. 3. Clean and maintain baptismal font. 4. Set up classrooms for faith formation and meetings. 5. Clean all restrooms and restock supplies. 6. Set up parish hall for meetings and events. 7. Remove all trash and take to the dumpster. 8. Wash interior windows. 9. Clean white boards, change clock batteries, and other general maintenance. B. Grounds Maintenance 1. Water plants and landscape beds (seasonal). 2. Keep walkways and patio clear of snow, ice, goose droppings. 3. Weed and remove trash from Memorial Garden. 4. Set up tents/shelters for parish picnic & other outdoor activities. 5. Clean out trash dumpster enclosure. 6. Assist with wild geese population control efforts. 7. Maintain all landscape beds, bushes and shrubs. 8. Remove trash/debris along property line. C. Other 1. Update hymn board weekly – numbers provided by Liturgist. 2. Assist Liturgist and Liturgy Committee with seasonal changes of decoration in the worship space. 3. Empty recycling bins. 4. Perform other related duties as requested by the staff. 5. Cross-train and back-up other maintenance staff. Requirements Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb a ladder, run floor equipment, and operate lawn equipment. Note: All employees are required to consent to a background check, commit to our Code of Conduct policy, and complete online and in-person trainings prior to hire.
Responsibilities
The Custodian/Maintenance Helper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the church and its grounds. This includes tasks such as cleaning, setting up for events, and performing general maintenance duties.
