SHIFT HOURS:

  • Custodian 1: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Custodian 2: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
    About Us: Kanata Montessori is a prestigious private school dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for our students, faculty, and staff. We are seeking two diligent and dependable custodians to join our team, each covering one of our essential shifts.
    Job Summary: The custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the school facilities. This includes classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces. The ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to pass a background check and comply with school safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure proper hygiene standards are met.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in accordance with school policies.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, stairwells, and lobbies.
  • Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Follow safety protocols and use cleaning supplies and equipment correctly.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting walkways during winter months.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including sweeping walkways and picking up litter.
  • Collaborate with other custodial staff and school personnel to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be able to perform physically demanding tasks
