POSITION TITLE:                 Custodian JOB CLASSIFICATION:       Part-Time, Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT:                     Plant Facilities REPORTS TO:                       Parish Events Coordinator SCHEDULE:                          Monday to Friday, including weekends (20-25 hours per week) PAY RANGE:                         $19.00-$22.00 an hour   JOB SUMMARY:    The Custodian is to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our parish community, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and general upkeep of the church facilities and surrounding areas. This position also includes the setup and breakdown of parish, ministry and special events in the church facilities.   RESPONSIBILITIES: Because all St. John Neumann Catholic Church employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. Primary Duties and Responsibilities include: * Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in the church, parish offices, parish hall, faith formation building, and youth center. * Clean and sanitize restrooms and other areas such as classrooms or office spaces * Empty trash cans and dispose of waste properly (including food waste and recycle bins) after all parish events. * Dust all furniture, fixtures, blinds, ceiling corners, windowsills and surfaces * Clean and wash windows, mirrors and walls * Maintain cleanliness of front office entrance doors and floors, hallways, offices, and common areas * Clean and maintain outdoor walkways and entrances * Clean parish hall and staff kitchen area including kitchen sinks, counters, and appliances (coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, stove) * Clean condenser in ice machine, refrigerator and freezer * Restock restrooms with essential facility supplies such as toilet paper and hand soap * Restock and organize cleaning supply closets and storage areas * Keep janitorial and cleaning equipment in a safe and good condition * Secure and store all cleaning supplies and equipment after their use * Use only approved cleaning products and cloths especially for computer, electronic equipment * Setup and breakdown of parish, ministry and special events in the parish hall and other buildings (tables, chairs, sound system, laptop ). * Properly put up and take down hall and classroom dividers. * Report maintenance (including plumbing and electrical) and safety issues in all facilities including the parking lot * Communicates with vendors and service providers to coordinate maintenance, repairs, and supplies.    Basic Maintenance Duties * Perform minor repairs as needed such replacing light bulbs * Change AC and water filters regularly * Check AED equipment * Assemble office and rectory furniture * Installation of appliances * Other duties as needed.   QUALIFICATIONS: * Previous janitorial or cleaning experience * Basic knowledge of electrical work * Basic knowledge of plumbing repairs * Familiarity with common cleaning solutions, cleaning equipment, and sanitizing best practices * Detailed understanding of safety and health regulations * Ability to work a flexible schedule * Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently * Strong attention to detail * Good communication and teamwork skills * Strong work ethic * Dependable and reliable * Strong problem-solving skills to help resolve repairs   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * To perform duties of the job, the employee will on a regular basis be required to lift, bend, reach, push, kneel, stoop, stand and walk for extended periods of time. * Ability to handle cleaning equipment and supplies safely * Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies when necessary   WORK ENVIRONMENT Typical Working Conditions: The position primarily involves work in the parish campus, inside and outside the church and campus buildings/facilities, requiring frequent use of a vacuum cleaner, steam cleaner, cobweb cleaner, scrubber, ladder, and cleaning products. Essential Physical Tasks: Verbal communication, movement around the church facilities, reach and carry materials as needed weighing up to 50lbs.
