Description The Stroum Jewish Community Center is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, staff, and community. This role is essential to the daily experience of everyone who walks through our doors. What You’ll Do Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizers Respond quickly to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning needs Assist with room set-up and breakdown for events, programs, and meetings Help move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed Monitor facility conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns Use and maintain custodial equipment and supplies safely and properly Follow all health and safety guidelines, especially in childcare and aquatic areas Provide friendly, professional service when interacting with staff, members, and guests Support the overall cleanliness and presentation of the facility Position pays $19.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience For more information on our benefits please go to: https://sjcc.org/about/services/employment-at-the-j/ Requirements What You Bring Schedule flexibility Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness Ability to work independently and stay on task Reliable, punctual, and responsive to changing priorities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, active environment Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required Physical Demands and Work Environment: The information described below represents the physical activities and surroundings one may encounter when performing the duties of this position. Physical Demands: To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk and hear. The incumbent may be required to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Environmental Conditions: The work is typically performed in an office, fitness center, or classroom environment, with a moderate noise level. Working conditions may occasionally include work near moving mechanical parts; wet, humid conditions (non-weather); work in high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electric shock.
