Cleaning and Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly. Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas. Trash Removal: Empty waste receptacles and dispose of trash. Sort and recycle materials according to school policies. Surface Maintenance: Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces. Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces. Floor Care: Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed. Shampoo carpets and rugs. Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries. Inform supervisors of any supply needs or equipment malfunctions. Maintenance Tasks: Report maintenance issues, damages, and needed repairs promptly. Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues. Event Support: Assist with set-up and clean-up for special events, meetings, and activities. Arrange furniture and equipment as needed. Safety and Security: Monitor and report safety hazards and security concerns. Ensure that exits are clear and accessible. Seasonal Duties: Perform seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and salting during winter. Assist with landscaping duties during warmer months. Collaboration: Coordinate with other custodial staff to ensure comprehensive coverage. Communicate effectively with school staff and administrators. Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines. Follow school policies and procedures related to custodial tasks. What are the required qualifications? High School Diploma or equivalent. Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment. Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
