Consider our Machine Building team here at Bastian Automation!   A Custom Machine Builder for our Custom Automation facility will be responsible for general fabrication and assembly of material handling equipment projects. The main emphasis for this position is assembly, other duties may include fabrication, welding and painting of projects as well as general repair and maintenance of Bastian Automation shop equipment as needed. Shift: * 3rd shift Job Functions: * Follow QMS as applicable and corporate level policies. * Ability to assemble machines from interpreting engineering assembly prints * Assemble equipment from fabricated parts, including weldments * Ability to set up and operate saws, shear, press brake, punches. Ability to calibrated measuring devices and utilize hand tools for fabrication tasks * Produce high quality assemblies with low rejection rate * Execute required tasks in an effective manner and have craftsmanship in all aspects of job * Take direction and learn under immediate Team Leader * Strive for improvement through training opportunities * Emphasis on assembly of our equipment (including minor electrical wiring) * Team focused mentality is necessary to perform this role   Travel Requirements: * No travel for this position   Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills: * Strong mechanical aptitude (experience with use of power/hand tools, understanding mechanics of industrial equipment, assembly/disassembly, etc.) * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop finished product from these plans * Relevant fabrication shop experience * Must obtain a High School or General Education Diploma at minimum * General knowledge of mechanical fasteners and their specific functions * General knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic mechanical systems * Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position – the task of position occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities, movement, etc. * Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound * Exerting between 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects  About Bastian Automation: Bastian is a trusted material handling automation integrator supporting distribution and manufacturing operations across the automotive, aerospace, tire and wheel, and other related industries – helping them work smarter, scale faster, and deliver with confidence.   In addition to exciting work at a growing company, we offer the following benefits:  * Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance * 401(k) Retirement Plan with a company match * Vacation / Holiday Pay * Paid Volunteer time off * Tuition Reimbursement * Professional Associations, Conferences and Subscriptions * Company Meetings & Events     Bastian Automation does not work with outside recruiting agencies.
