Description

As a Machinist, you will program, set up and operate CNC machining systems such as mills and lathes, and/or heat treat and power skiving equipment, producing parts for the manufacture of forestry and off-road equipment. The successful candidate will have experience working with measurement tools, such as micrometers and calipers, to ensure machined parts are within the required dimensions and tolerances. When not operating machinery, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the machinery, ensuring all fluids are topped up and clean.
Location: 200 Avenue Road, Cambridge, ON
Dedicated Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday – Friday

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of CNC machinist experience
  • Conversational programming experience
  • Experience correcting G Codes
  • Ability to complete set-up and programming
  • Good working knowledge of tools, blueprints, and drawings
  • Strong work ethic; punctual and reliable
  • Physically able to perform task demands
  • Good level of manual dexterity and hand / eye coordination
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently
  • Knowledge of production processes and quality standards
  • Positive attitude through effective and friendly communication

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience setting up, editing programs and operating CNC machining systems such as mills and lathes, and/or heat treat and power skiving equipment.
  • Capable of correcting G Codes with conversational programming experience
  • Ability to run Mastercam and Solidworks is preferred
  • Good working knowledge of tools, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
Responsibilities
  • Program, setup and operate CNC horizontal and/or vertical boring mills
  • Machine individual steel weldments - drilling and tapping holes and milling of parts
  • Load part onto machine table using overhead crane, choosing appropriate lifting tackle
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipers
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools, boring machines
  • Measure, examine or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings or engineering information to determine methods of sequence of operations needed to fabricate products.
  • Check work pieces to ensure they are properly lubricated or cooled
