  HOURLY JOB OPPORTUNITY FORM Position Custom Sample Tufting Operator A Department Custom Samples Reports To Manager Post Start Post End Shift Posting No. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Set up and make adjustments to tufting machines and replace needles, loopers and knives. While machine is running, inspect carpet quality and defects such as breaks, pull-downs, low lines. Program patterns in computer. Splice in next order to specifications. Confirm pattern and machine set-up to specification. Record or make changes to setup from original specification when needed under direction of designer, lead or Manager for aesthetic or quality reasons. Identify sample with correct PDS#. Notify Spec coordinator when called for. Load yarns on creel or in yarn tubes as necessary. Interact with our Designers to make adjustments to the machine for quality and design approval. Housekeeping , Other duties needed to maintain department levels of production. EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS * Six months experience as a mender . * 5 years experience as a Tufting Machine Operator or the equivalent experience on machines: #4 , #3 ,#25 , #20 , #32, #27, #41, #52 * Knowledge of carpet quality standards. * Communication skills to read, write, understand and discuss (in English) * Understand numerical and alphabetical lot numbers. * Work overtime as needed, including weekends. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Frequent: Handle, manual dexterity, lifts 15-20 lbs., reach, stand, stoop, and walk. Use personal protective equipment. Occasional: Balance, climb, crawl, crouch, grasp, hear, kneel, and speak. Required: Close vision, color and depth perception. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS General warehouse environment. Background noise, dirt, oil, humidity, temperature variations.
