JOB DESCRIPTION:
The US Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) Group is responsible for the detection, investigation, and reporting of potential money laundering and terrorist financing activities conducted through TD Bank. The various screening processes conducted by the Financial Crimes Name Screening Operations Team are a key element of the adjudication and escalation activities conducted by US FCRM to manage TD Bank’s anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing risk, sanctions, and compliance obligations. The Name Screening Operations team screens against various watchlists containing potential matches, and acts as the primary identification point in analyzing and escalating potential matches to watchlist individuals.
As part of an ongoing transformation of the Name Screening Operations team, a new Center of Excellence is being established to handle all initial alert adjudication and escalation globally, including Sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons, Money Services Business, Negative Media, and additional Prevention and Detection-related alerts.
The Customer Adverse Media Team Lead I assesses and/or adjudicates and prioritizes incoming alerts and/or investigation requests to determine whether further investigation is required and completes appropriate workflows. Provides analysis and/or data/evidence gathering support for cases. Applies strong knowledge of bank procedures, products, and systems to assist investigators in analyzing situations, gathering information, and required documentation and case preparation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- 1+ year experience
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Financial services background preferred
- Team lead experience preferred
- Thorough analysis and processing of news media alerts
- Attention to detail
- Ability to apply broad team standards on a case-by-case basis
- Collect and analyze performance data points
- Provide individual feedback on an ad hoc basis
CUSTOMER ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responds to reports of financial crime activities from within TDBG sources and/or external parties and ensures appropriate areas (internally and/or externally) are made aware of situations requiring further attention
- Reviews all incoming incidents and filters investigations for financial crime or non-criminal nature and forwards on to the appropriate area
- Assesses and contains immediate risk (monetary and brand image) based on incoming information
- Supports risk containment process by making policy/procedural recommendations where applicable
- Acquires and applies strong knowledge of bank procedures, products, and systems to assist investigators in analyzing situations, gathering information, and required documentation and case preparation. Runs and reviews information against guidelines to ensure accuracy and flag potential deviations and unusual activity
- Ensures reporting is filed in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Assists with the preparation and presentation of AML, Sanctions/ABAC & Financial Crime training material
