JOB SUMMARY:

The Customer Care Transportation Coordinator is responsible for providing hands on customer care operations for the prompt, effective transportation, clearance, import, export and routing of both domestic and international parcels in accordance with proper procedures for BGS customers. This position requires the enforcement of rules to protect the premises and property of Brink’s and its customers and in armored vehicles in transit, as well as the safety of persons on the premises of Brink’s and its customers, including armored vehicles. This is a multi-faceted position that encompasses both customer care as well as in the field operations at our JFK Warehouse.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Customer Service with a concentration in logistics & supply chain or related field or internal BGS experience of a similar nature.
  • Minimum of 3 year of experience using MS Office and Windows applications
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Able to work weekends, holidays and/or extended hours

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree
  • Experience in a fast paced high volume Commodities department for an air freight forwarder.
  • More than 3 years of experience servicing customers in the transportation/logistics industry as a coordinator, shipment router or other similarly situated air freight forwarding professional.
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Transferrable internal BGS experience in an Exports, Customer Service or other Operational position with working knowledge of BITS, ATLAS and GARCIA.

Responsibilities
  • Receive incoming calls and e-mails from internal customers, Brink’s U.S. branches, and Brink’s affiliates, service queries in a timely manner
  • Filter incoming internal inquiries through proper internal channels to find timely solutions and answers
  • Coordinate day to day activities of all LOB’s transportation shipments
  • Communicate with the internal Affiliates and regional operational departments for shipment updates, ETA, PODs etc.
  • Work with Customer Care operations team to research brokerage, import and export delays to relay back to customer care support team
  • Work with internal teams and CIT to attain POD’s and Pickup Confirmations/ETAs from branches
  • Develop strong communicative relationships with route supervisors and operations managers
  • Adhere to escalation procedures for securing information in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the Inside sales quote and shipment specialist to provide researched information quickly and accurately
  • Partner with operations staff to determine accurate operational service capabilities
  • Work closely with our JFK Sort, Import, Export and Air Courier departments to ensure proper routing of shipments and customer’s storage materials in our highly secured vaults.
  • Responsible for meeting all IATA and US Customs requirements in document generation and cargo handling..
  • Maintain/submit special logs, reports, and records as requested.
  • Handle service concerns diplomatically, channeling complaints to other appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Determine and secure paperwork required for all international moves, including (but not limited to) commercial invoices, special customs paperwork, etc.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the status of items in transit through our system.

  • Work closely with other members of the department to ensure the appropriate completion and distribution of the workload and maintain a high quality of service to the customers via time efficient and effective response to voice mails, e-mails, and phone calls and by always ensuring that each customer is treated with the utmost respect and consideration.
