WHO ARE WE?
First Rail Stirling is a brand-new enterprise and start-up rail operator that will run an exciting long-haul train service crossing the entire country. The service will run from London to Stirling, reuniting Stirling with a direct service to the West Coast of England during the day.
We are transforming the way people think about train travel, empowering our team from different backgrounds to make it a great experience for our customers. Together, we will revalue rail as a very special way to travel – relaxing, fast, efficient, and sustainable.
We would like to make our Apprentice Customer Driver positions as attractive as possible to women and attract more women into rail. We are proud to be among train operators creating more opportunities for women. To read the stories of some of our female Customer Drivers please click the following link:

FirstGroup operates services throughout the UK and Ireland, with over 30,000 employees providing services that make travel smoother and life easier. FirstGroup works hard to reduce its impact on the environment, introducing cleaner and more environmentally responsible methods of transport.

Our Customer Driver Instructor role is for those passionate about customer service.
The primary purpose of the Customer Driver Instructor is to ensure all drivers and trainee drivers develop and maintain the necessary competence to safely operate the trains Lumo Stirling run, keeping to a strict schedule whilst keeping customers and colleagues safe. To achieve this, Our Customer Driver Instructors produce and deliver training both in the classroom and through practical handling on trains. Customer DriverInstructors assess competence, carry out assessments and coaching interventions, and are also called on to carry out briefings, incident investigations, and take part in on-call duties.
The broader purpose of the Customer Driver Instructor role includes promoting safety, punctuality, security, information, cleanliness and customer service through all avenues; challenging poor practice and recognising excellent performance. Instructors may be required to carry out customer service duties as and when required and model customer ambassador qualities to colleagues both within and outside of the driver function. You will act as role models for Apprentice Customer Drivers, Trainee Customer Drivers and Customer Drivers.
You will demonstrate a passion for operational excellence, an engaging personality and a strong sense of pride in delivering industry leading customer experience in line with our customer needs.
