Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a Customer Insights Manager working for Kmart you will:

  • Lead Merchandise-Focused Insights: Develop and execute a customer insights plan tailored to Merchandise, ensuring alignment with business priorities, timelines, and budgets.
  • Partner with Merchandise Teams: Work closely with Buyers, Planners, and Category Managers to understand their goals, influence decisions, and embed insights into range reviews (TPRs), and merchandise strategy.
  • Drive Strategic Impact: Translate customer insights into actionable recommendations that shape range decisions, marketing activation, and omni-channel customer strategies
  • Champion Customer-Centric Thinking: Advocate for the customer across Merchandise and broader business forums, ensuring insights are understood, applied, and drive measurable results.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Align with the broader Customer Insights team to share best practices, maximise ROI, and ensure a consistent voice of the customer across the business.
  • Manage Research Projects: Oversee external research partners to deliver high-quality insights on time and within budget.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL HAVE:

  • Merchandise Partnership Experience (Essential): Proven experience working closely with Merchandise teams in a retail environment, with a strong understanding of range planning (TPRs), and merchandise strategy.
  • Strategic Influence: Ability to influence decision-making and embed insights into commercial and strategic planning.
  • Customer & Market Understanding: Experience in translating customer data into meaningful strategies that enhance the customer offer.
  • Analytical & Research Skills: Familiarity with research methodologies and data tools (e.g., Q, Power BI), with the ability to interpret and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, with the ability to tell compelling stories through data.
  • Retail Acumen: A background in retail, ideally across both physical and digital channels.
