What You'll Do: The Bureau of Vital Statistics operates a statewide system for the registration of births, deaths, and other vital events that happen within the state of Ohio. We are currently seeking three experienced customer service specialists to provide information and communicate procedures to obtain or amend vital records. This job entails the following tasks: Make telephone calls & email stakeholders to inform them of changes to Ohio's vital record system Provide technical assistance to electronic data users (e.g., local health departments, coroners, funeral homes, hospitals) to properly enter & complete enrollment information in the electronic birth/death registration system Research & respond to customer inquiries for requested information; prepare & send information to customers (e.g., training documents, access requests, applications, clarifying information letters) Protect the privacy of confidential Vital Statistics records & handle emergency requests from the director's office, governor's office & others (e.g., legal requests, expedited delivery) Review submitted paper death worksheets & contact the listed physician to enroll them through the electronic pathway This position will report to 4200 Surface Road, Columbus, Ohio, working in office Monday - Friday during core business hours. 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer. -Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above.
