PRIORITY IS GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH METAL RECYCLING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE. Requirements Essential Job Responsibilities Creating customer accounts in our POS system. Update customer accounts in POS accurately and reviewing frequently for duplicates and inaccurate data. General admin duties, including but not limited to preparing agendas for meetings (i.e. weekly safety meetings), filing, Frequently answer incoming phone calls and properly vet calls to route and respond appropriately, filing documents, etc. Project based research (ex. Researching prospective customers and proving summary reports) Operate the cash register or POS system to scan and process items for purchase. Ensure the accuracy of pricing, discounts, and promotions. Greet customers warmly, answer their inquiries, and provide information about our recycling services, rates, and procedures. Issue receipts or invoices to customers for their transactions, and maintain accurate records of daily cash transactions, reconcile cash at the end of the shift, and prepare daily cash reports. Keep the cash register area clean, organized, and properly stocked with necessary supplies, such as cash drawer inserts, receipt paper, and bags. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and security protocols related to cash handling, credit card transactions, fraud prevention, and customer privacy, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as those related to recycling transactions or financial transactions. Work collaboratively with other cashiers and team members to maintain a smooth and efficient operation. Assist in training new cashiers on cash handling procedures, customer service standards as well as cross training where needed. Address customer concerns, complaints, or issues promptly and professionally, and escalate complex or unresolved matters to the supervisor or appropriate department. Maintain a clean and organized cashier area, ensuring it is free from hazards. Follow safety guidelines and report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor. End of day office clean up – to include emptying office trash cans and ensuring the kitchen is orderly. Other duties as assigned. Competencies you must have Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with drivers, customers, and internal teams. Proficiency in using computer software and systems for dispatching, scheduling, cash register operations, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. Customer service-oriented with the ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally. Experience and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous cash handling experience, preferably in a retail or customer service setting. Metal Recycling experience a PLUS Strong numerical and math skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Proficient in using cash registers or POS systems. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash transactions. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively. Knowledge of recycling practices and materials is a plus. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Proficiency in office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and calendar management systems. Work Environment Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Background check required.
