Primary objective
Provide a high level of customer service and support across functions of the Public Guardian and Trustee. This includes
providing information relating to guardianship, financial and trust management, advance personal planning, estate
administration and will making/storage services.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Engage with stakeholders and service providers, undertake inquiries and collect documented evidence for adult
guardianship applications the Guardianship of Adults Act 2016 .
2. Facilitate the Public Guardian and Trustee’s provision of information and detailed reports to the Northern Territory Civil
and Administrative Tribunal (NTCAT) including attend Hearings.
3. Assist in the administration of financial trusts and estates of deceased persons, including the identification of
beneficiaries and assets, realising, managing and liquidating assets and estate distribution.
4. Assist to develop legal documents including applications for guardianship, probate, letters of administration, wills,
Advanced Personal Plans and similar.
5. Respond positively to change, personal growth and improvement, act professionally and operate within the boundaries
of agreed policies and procedures.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge and understanding of guardianship and trustee activities, including trust management, estate administration,
drafting wills and Advanced Personal Plans or able to learn this knowledge quickly.
2. Demonstrated experience working with legislative frameworks, policies and standards especially in the areas of
disability, seniors, aged care and or financial management.
3. Effective communication and negotiation skills to engage professionally with people from diverse backgrounds.
4. Handle customer interactions sensitively and tactfully. handle information confidentially and responsibly,
5. Demonstrated financial management, time management and organisational skills, including task prioritisation,
adaptability to changing demands and maintaining accurate records with attention to detail.
6. Able to conduct enquiries, analyse verbal and written information, effectively use computer systems such as Microsoft
Office products, trust accounting and/or client management and financial databases.
7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills including preparing complex formal reports.
8. Provide high level customer service and have a proven ability to build and sustain effective stakeholder relationships.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in law, accounting, financial management, human services, business management or related field.
2. Certificate IV (Government) Investigation, Training and Assessment or another relevant expert field
