Description AR 2420 JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE Customer Services Assistant SALARY GRADE III FLSA Non-Exempt LOCATION Customer Services SUPERVISOR Department Head, Customer Services JOB SUMMARY Assist the department librarians by initiating and reinforcing consistent workflow, providing excellent patron services, and supporting outreach initiatives. MAJOR TASKS Perform circulation and ILL duties as scheduled, including but not limited to: issuing library cards, checking materials in and out, processing holds, receiving and recording fees and payments, making change for copier, counting and recording daily receipts, delivering daily deposit. Answer patron account, circulation, or directional questions placed in person or via phone or email. Assist patrons in locating materials, access the online catalog, and use of library equipment. Assist with selection for audiovisual materials. Examine returned audio-visual materials, clean library materials, and make simple repairs. Explain library circulation policies to patrons and staff. Keep informed of developments in the library field through reading and participation in professional activities and meetings. Perform other tasks assigned by department supervisor. Requirements Position Requirements High school diploma required; Interest and ability in working with the public; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Computer literacy and keyboarding skills; Strong interpersonal skills, interacting pleasantly and clearly in person, on the telephone, and through email; Ability to lift 25 lbs. and maneuver a 250 lb. cart; Schedule includes evenings/weekends (OLPL Employee Benefits) https://www.olpl.org/media/117
