JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the accounting manager, responsible for the processing of various customs compliance and strong knowledge in the Canadian Customs laws and regulations including CUSMA/USMCA and US Tariff. Assists with developing process improvement activities and utilize PDCA to solve problems. Maintains internal control structure and JSOX compliance. Ensuring required KPIs and goals and objectives are met timely and identify gaps and recommend counter measures to attain KPI’s and G&O’s. Understanding of IFRS and local GAAP accounting principles.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED

Requires an Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, Business, Supply Chain or related filed with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Have a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation or with similar designation. Experienced with computerized accounting systems such as Oracle, Intermediate to advanced Excel experience in V-Lookup formulas and pivot tables.

Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Require

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Basic processing knowledge
  • General understanding of accounting rules
  • Competent level of experience using Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with Canadian customs laws and regulations, including CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) requirements.
  2. Prepare and review import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
  3. Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate the smooth movement of goods.
  4. Monitor duty and tariff classifications, ensuring accurate application of Harmonized System (HS) codes.
  5. Track and analyze landed costs, duty payments, and other import-related expenses.
  6. Assist with financial reconciliation of customs duties, taxes, and import/export-related accounts.
  7. Identify and apply for duty drawback programs, tariff exemptions, and free trade agreements (e.g., USMCA/CUSMA).
  8. Collaborate and work with multiple departments within DENSO to resolve accounting issues.
  9. Understand and communicate to other departments any financial statements impact for any corrections and accruals of their departments.
  10. Work with various systems in the company such as scrap system, inventory system, Oracle financial systems
  11. Ensure compliance with internal controls related to inventory management to prevent fraud and errors.
  12. Identify gaps and develop process improvement and prevention activities including identifying root causes and determining countermeasures while using PDCA process and to report across other departments to meet KPI and G&O’s target.
  13. Recommend and establish policies and procedures deemed necessary for improving accuracy and efficiency in accounting.
  14. To collaborate and communicate with cross functional departments and group companies.
  15. Provide training in Oracle and other systems as needed and requested by management.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
