OVERVIEW:

A & A Customs Brokers is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Customs Clearance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a customs brokerage in Canada. This position is critical to ensuring shipments are handled in a timely and efficient manner, working collaboratively with the Highway team to deliver exceptional service to our clients. If you’re comfortable navigating new systems and enjoy finding tech-savvy ways to streamline your work, this could be the role for you!
This is a remote position with working hours from 3:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. PST, Monday through Friday, working 37.5 hours a week, reporting directly to the Canadian Release Operations Manager. There will be bonus compensation for working the evening shift.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Preferred 2+ years of customs clearance coordination specializing in Highway shipments.
  • Certifications: A Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent Canadian designation is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Experience with ITMr4, Cargowise, and/or CANdata systems is an asset.
  • Tech-savvy with a knack for picking up new systems quickly and finding efficiencies in digital tools.
  • Effective and efficient work habits, including punctuality, responsiveness, and multitasking.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian rules and regulations for the importation of goods.
  • Professional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal, including active listening).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Highly organized, self-starter, flexible, and independent.
  • Proficient in Gmail/Front, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
Responsibilities
  • Review documentation and prepare customs release entries for processing.
  • Process and manage Highway releases.
  • Analyze documents to determine applicable tariff classifications, duties, and tax rates.
  • Collect supplementary information or documentation as required from customers, carriers, CBSA, and others.
  • Email clients with clear and concise communication, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Handle and resolve challenging situations professionally and effectively.
  • Liaise with other teams for entry follow-up as required.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Canadian ports and warehouses.
  • Enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete files within required timeframes and in accordance with A & A and Canadian regulations.
  • Review files for accuracy and errors, ensuring compliance.
  • Handle phone inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
