The CUSTOMS COORDINATOR is responsible for arranging customs clearance for cargo coming into the country by all modes of transport and ensuring that all shipment(s) are handled with excellent attention to detail from start to finish.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Customs, Logistics, Global Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation obtained or currently in progress.
  • One (1) year previous Import experience in Customs or equivalent experience in Customs within Freight Forwarding, is recommended but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills for interaction with all internal and external customers; including but not limited to: CBSA, Sales team, forwarding agents and prospective business.
  • Fast and accurate entry rating skills.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly.
  • Ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities
  • Follow customs compliance requirements and ensures correct accounting of Customs transactions by day five (5) after release.
  • Complete the Courier LVS release requests.
  • Arrange for forwarder, steamship, and warehouse releases on behalf of customs clients.
  • Arrange final delivery to consignee, when needed. Monitoring the delivery until its completion.
  • Manage client documents; advising clients of customs procedures, ETAs and clearance documents needed. Proactively ask for manifest, free trade agreements and other clearance documents when needed.
  • Trace and trace all ocean and air shipments to ensure timely release and to update clients as needed.
  • Ensure billing is sent out to clients within two days of the entry being customs confirmed.
  • Maintain a paperless desk and accurate electronic files per transaction.
  • Follows current SOPs and assists in their updating process.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in a timely manner with all internal and external customers to resolve and prevent issues.
