We are looking to expand our team with an enthusiastic and driven Trainee Customs Declarant who is eager to learn and develop in a dynamic international trade environment. This trainee role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience and growth in customs procedures, documentation, and customs operations.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Trainee Customs Declarant , you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to gain essential skills. Working under the guidance of experienced declarants, you will learn to manage the preparation and submission of import and export declarations and ensure that goods and companies comply with all customs regulations.
This role will require you to work on a 24/7 rotating shift schedule, providing you with exposure to a variety of scenarios and the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of cross-border logistics. Currently ALS Shift department is supporting ALS UK and other European entities out of office hours, tasks involving Sea, air and road freight. The diversity of support that is required from the team calls for a well composed and open-minded applicant who finds enjoyment in the challenge.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Training and Learning: Under the supervision of senior team members, you will be trained to prepare and submit accurate import and export declarations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Document Review: Assist in reviewing shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other customs-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Customs Compliance Support: Learn how to track and monitor shipments to ensure they pass through customs smoothly, working closely with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and other logistics stakeholders.
  • Communication: Assist in communicating with customs officers, addressing questions or discrepancies regarding shipments, and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Record Maintenance: Support the team in maintaining accurate records of import/export transactions and customs filings for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Problem-Solving: Learn how to identify and resolve issues related to import/export compliance, including documentation discrepancies, shipment delays, and regulatory challenges.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, import/export procedures, and industry standards to ensure compliance during the training period.
