GERMAN


• The position supports a smooth and legally compliant flow of goods within Europe by assisting with customs and foreign trade compliance activities . This includes, among other things, supporting import and export processes, preparing and reviewing customs-related documentation, tariff classification of goods, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


• Working closely with production sites, purchasing and logistics teams, customs brokers, and authorities, the position contributes to efficient cross-border operations. Furthermore, it supports the identification and implementation of improvement opportunities to optimize processes, strengthen compliance, and reduce customs and duty-related costs.


Note: The position is initially limited to a period of 12 months and may be extended if necessary.


ENGLISH


• The position holder will help ensure the smooth and compliant flow of goods across Europe by supporting customs and trade compliance activities, including import/export processes, customs documentation, tariff classification, and regulatory requirements.


• Working closely with manufacturing sites, purchasing, logistics teams, customs brokers, and government authorities, they will contribute to efficient cross-border operations while helping identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance compliance and optimize duty-related costs.

GERMAN

  • Supporting import and export activities in Europe with the aim of ensuring compliance with EU-wide as well as national customs and foreign trade regulations .
  • Review of customs declarations, trade documents and transaction data to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Support with the customs tariff classification of goods, customs valuation, origin determination, use of free trade agreements and the application of special customs procedures.
  • Monitoring of customs clearances and close cooperation with customs agents and external service providers to clarify discrepancies and continuously improve data quality.
  • Analysis of customs-related issues, conducting data evaluations, and providing support for root cause analyses related to compliance topics.
  • Participation in customs audits, compliance reviews, and the creation of KPIs and management reports.
  • Close collaboration with the purchasing, supply chain, logistics, finance, engineering and production departments to support customs and foreign trade-related requirements.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on the customs implications of supplier changes, procurement decisions and initiatives within the supply chain.
  • Maintaining customs-related records, supporting the documentation of processes, and identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization.
  • Participation in business reviews with customs agents and foreign trade service providers to continuously improve compliance, operational performance and efficiency.

ENGLISH

  • Support import and export activities across Europe, helping to ensure compliance with EU and local customs regulations

  • Partner with purchasing, supply chain, logistics, finance, engineering and manufacturing teams to support customs and trade compliance requirements
  • Provide guidance on customs implications related to supplier changes, sourcing decisions and supply chain initiatives
  • Maintain customs records, support process documentation and identify opportunities for process improvements, automation and standardization
  • Participate in business reviews with customs brokers and trade service providers to enhance compliance, operational performance and efficiency

Required Skills and Education

GERMAN

  • Successfully completed Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, Finance or a comparable field of study.
  • At least three years of professional experience in customs, foreign trade compliance, import/export processing, international logistics or in a comparable environment, ideally in the automotive industry.
  • Sound knowledge of EU customs regulations, customs procedures and the Union Customs Code (UCC).
  • Experience in the areas of customs tariff classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, and free trade and preferential agreements.
  • Experience in collaborating with customs agents, freight forwarders and external service providers in the field of customs and foreign trade compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving competence , and a high degree of organizational and communication skills, combined with a careful and detail-oriented work style.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and practical experience in dealing with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Plex or comparable platforms.
  • Fluent German and English skills, both spoken and written.

ENGLISH

  • Successfully completed Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, Finance or a related field
  • 3 years experience in customs, trade compliance, import/export operations, international logistics or a related area – ideally gained in the automotive industry
  • Solid knowledge of EU customs regulations, customs procedures and the Union Customs Code (UCC)
  • Experience with tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin requirements and preferential trade agreements
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders and external trade compliance service providers
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Plex, or similar platforms.
  • Fluent language knowledge in German and English
