CVT or Experienced Veterinary Assistant - Emergency Department Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland, Oregon. Our team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Radiology, supported by dedicated technicians and client service professionals. Our goal is to create an environment where both people and pets feel supported. Position Overview and Schedule: We are seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our Emergency Department team. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, collaboration, and professionalism in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment. Schedule details: 3/12’s (4/10 schedule may be considered) Day (6:30a-7p) Sun-Tues, Th-Sat. Mid (10:30a-11p) Sun-Tues, Th-Sat Swing (2:30p-3a) Th-Sat Overnight VTS ECC (6p-6a) Th-Sat Essential Responsibilities: Triage and obtain patient history from owners Perform diagnostic tests and out-patient procedures Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM Provide oversight and treatment for multiple ER patients, ensuring gold-standard patient nursing and husbandry Provide support and education to pet owners Maintain accurate medical records Discharge patients and answer client questions Fill prescriptions and review with owners Maintain cleanliness of the hospital Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in an ER setting, CVTs must hold an active Oregon license or immanent transfer of licensure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle fast-paced, high-stress situations with composure Confidence in life-saving procedures such as CPR/BLS Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate commensurate with clinical experience: VTS ECC $40-$45 CVT $30-$40 Advanced or Experienced Veterinary Assistant $22-$32 $5 per hour differential for all hours worked between 10:00pm - 6:00am Tuition assistance for professional development Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Health, dental, and vision insurance (HSA/FSA available) 401(k) with employer match Disability coverage Generous Employee discounts Paid time off (PTO) and call-in shift stipends
