Position Summary:
Odyssey Systems is seeking a Cyber and Network Architect Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the HNI program at Hanscom Air Force Base. This role provides high-level architecture and cybersecurity expertise across multiple domains, guiding technical execution and modernization for ACAT I-level programs. The successful candidate will lead efforts aligned with Zero Trust, cloud architecture, and digital engineering, while working across a diverse stakeholder group including MAJCOMs, Chief Engineers, and cybersecurity teams.
Responsibilities:
In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Must have an Active Secret clearance
Education: Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s with additional experience considered)
Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant technical discipline with at least 5 years supporting DoD or defense-related efforts

Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, AWS/Azure Architect, DoD 8570-compliant certifications)

  • Prior support of ACAT I-level programs
  • Experience with Digital Engineering and SysML
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust implementation and cloud/hybrid architecture planning
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and delivering RFP packages, strategy documentation, and senior-level technical briefings
  • Experience with IT portfolio management, architecture governance, and enterprise cybersecurity integration

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (DoDI 8500.01, 8510.01, RMF)
  • Strong systems engineering and architectural analysis capabilities
  • Knowledge of ICAM and Zero Trust Architecture in DoD environments
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, hybrid compute)
  • Experience supporting model-based systems engineering (MBSE) using SysML
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and systems modeling tools

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate work across Systems Interoperability and Integration SMEs, Cyberspace Defense SMEs, and other technical experts.
  • Lead the analysis, planning, design, implementation, and assessment of enterprise IT architectures to align mission, strategy, and systems.
  • Serve as the technical lead on hybrid and multi-cloud architecture strategies to support both connected and disconnected operations.
  • Provide technical and strategic recommendations to shape divisional roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and architecture planning.
  • Support enterprise and program architecture compliance with DoDI 8500.01 (Cybersecurity), DoDI 8510.01 (RMF), and other key DoD directives.
  • Guide development of DAF Zero Trust architecture plans and Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) integration across divisions.
  • Evaluate and recommend policies, processes, and governance strategies to support acquisition, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
  • Identify and address gaps between current and target architectures and develop transition plans using industry best practices and DoD guidance.
  • Support the use and expansion of Digital Engineering efforts using SysML and model-based system design.
  • Collaborate with multi-MAJCOM stakeholders on classified and unclassified networks to identify needs and develop solutions.
  • Represent the Chief Engineer’s technical position in their absence, including participation in senior-level meetings and technical reviews.
  • Support the preparation of acquisition artifacts such as technical reports, acquisition strategies, RFP packages, and milestone documentation.
  • Participate in program-level reviews including TIMs, PMRs, MARs, and acquisition strategy panels.
