Applications are invited for the full-time position of Cyber Security Analyst in the Information Technology Services department located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $46.08/hr to $53.43/hr (Payband K) for a 40-hour work week.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Security, the Cyber Security Analyst provides expert guidance and technical support in all areas of information and cybersecurity. This includes technical planning, architecture design, installation, integration, monitoring, and maintenance of security systems across networking, computing infrastructure, software platforms, and external services such as Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud-based components.
The Cyber Security Analyst serves as a key technical advisor on the performance, effectiveness, and modernization of security systems, ensuring their compatibility and interoperability within the College’s existing IT environment. The role also oversees the proper implementation of information security policies and practices, and coordinates institution-wide cybersecurity initiatives to ensure a cohesive and compliant security posture.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field of study
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in computing and information security within a large corporate or enterprise network
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of internet technologies, enterprise network concepts, and communication protocols
  • Proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) tools
  • Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewalls, Vulnerability Management platforms, and endpoint protection
  • Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and best practices, particularly for platforms such as Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with modern authentication methods and identity management systems (e.g., SSO, MFA)
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements and frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS
  • Competency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating security processes
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of thinking critically under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with security incident response and digital forensics
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the College’s security policies and requirements, including the creation of enterprise/user standards, risk and audit controls, cybersecurity training programs, and data governance standards
  • Manages and performs ongoing security operations such as monitoring, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, threat detection, incident response, and digital forensics
  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation related to information security infrastructure, policies, standards, and procedures. Prepares technical documentation and support materials for new systems and services
  • Provides expert security guidance for the implementation and integration of current and future servers, services, applications, and enterprise network infrastructure
  • Acts as a technical advisor to ITS leadership, team members, and other College stakeholders on security-related matters
  • Leads security-focused technical initiatives and planning efforts to ensure compliance with the College’s security framework. Collaborates with ITS teams, other departments, and external vendors to design, plan, and deploy secure systems and services across the College’s network
