Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer in Melbourne to work on Defence Joint projects. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: * Conduct vulnerability assessments across applications, networks, and infrastructure. * Perform security risk assessments and support system accreditation in line with ISM, Essential Eight, DISP, ISO 27001, and NIST. * Embed security controls throughout the system development lifecycle and support testing and acceptance activities. * Prepare clear technical reports and executive summaries outlining risks and mitigation strategies. * Support incident response, investigations, and troubleshooting of complex system issues. * What You’ll Bring * Demonstrated experience in vulnerability management and security risk assessment. * Strong background in systems engineering, systems administration, or IT operations. * Experience supporting accreditation of Defence systems, ideally with CASG. * Ability to produce high-quality technical and business-facing documentation. * Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams. Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
