JOB SUMMARY

The Cyber Security Engineer at NMHS is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure systems that protect the organization’s digital infrastructure. This role requires advanced expertise in network security, threat detection, incident response, and secure system architecture. The engineer must demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills, work independently with minimal supervision, and quickly adapt to emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, or a related technical field. Required
• Associate’s Degree willing to consider an Assoc degree in lieu of Bachelor degree with 4 add’l years of experience beyond the minimum in Computer Science or a related techinical field.. Required
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent willing to consider an HS Diploma in lieu of Bachelor degree with 8 add’l years of experience beyond the minimum in Computer Science or a related techinical field.. Required
• Master’s Degree Computer Science or a related techinical field.. PreferredLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSWORK EXPERIENCE
• 4-6 years. A minimum of 4 years’ ITS experience is required. Required
• 1-3 years. Experience with cloud security in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.. Required
• 1-3 years. Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and analysis.. Required
• 1-3 years. Experience with threat intelligence platforms and MITRE ATT&CK framework.. PreferredKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and other networking protocols.
• Knowledge of encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.
• Familiarity with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, OWASP Top 10, and application-layer defenses.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP security models, including IAM, encryption, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks.PHYSICAL DEMANDSA thorough completion of this section is needed for compliance with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
