Digital Skills Allowance: The base salary for this grade is £57,670. Offers above this will be made up of a Digital Skills Allowance of up to £15,300 per annum for exceptional candidates.

SUMMARY

Cyber Security Operations are about the Army’s ability to manage the information enterprise (including data), deliver Defensive Cyber Operations and respond to incidents. The Army approach is to anticipate, prepare for, respond and adapt to sudden disruptive cyber events.
A new and exciting post, offering both variety and challenge at a time of considerable change on the cyber horizon, this role provides plenty of opportunity, in conjunction with the Cyber and Security team, to develop and bring forward ideas and initiatives, to help ensure continuous improvement in Army security operations and associated procedures, across the cyber domain.
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 9,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. JOB DESCRIPTION

As the lead for Security Operations, you’ll be the driving force behind the formulation and execution of a robust security operations strategy, encompassing various facets, including the Army Security Operations Centre (SOC), vulnerability management and security engineering.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who is a team player but is equally comfortable working on their own. The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with wider Defence, Government and industry.
Your experience is key and whilst not essential, we would expect to see industry qualifications, such as CISM, CISSP or a degree, HND or HNC in Cyber / Information Security or demonstrable relevant work experience.
Attendance and participation at meetings, presentations and conferences across the UK will be required from time to time, including occasional overnight stays. The role would require mainly working in Corsham, with some travel to Colerne, Andover and Blandford.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:
· Act as a principal interface for the Army Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), to understand performance and outputs of the collective units forming the Army Cyber Information Security Operations Centre (CyISOC).
· Lead the development and implementation of a security operations strategy (including but not limited to Security Operations Centre (SOC), Vulnerability Management and Security Engineering).
· Oversee co-ordination of the component Security Operations Centres, Network Operations Centres and other related cyber security teams across the Army, aligning them to milestones set in the Army Security Plan and a project to transform the Army’s defensive Cyber operations, driving towards a united Army level CyISOC.
· Oversight and vendor management of Managed Service Provider(s), providing visible and effective leadership and governance across the outsourced providers.
· Co-ordinate CyISOC provision of support to the broader Army, cohering business (monitoring & management) and protective (threat driven) functions to ensure layered service management and information security across the Army’s area of responsibility (AOR). This will include establishing an interface to subordinate SOCs at formation level.
· Increase the level of protective and performance monitoring of digital systems within the defined Army CyISOC AOR.
· Leading responses to cyber security incidents, support incident response and recovery activities where required, by acting as an escalation point between SOC team managers and Army digital leadership.
· Co-ordinate with other single Service CyISOCs and the Defence level Cyber Security Operations Centre federation to enable co-operation across the Defence (as well as Army) digital enterprise.
· Fostering innovation, creativity, collaboration, and professional growth of information and data management, as well as information security operations.
· Lead and manage a small team of military and civilian personnel.
