WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The required skillset for the contracted individual is extensive knowledge and experience (more than 8 years) in the following areas:

  • Architectural methodology and design principles.
  • Good understanding of cyber security principles, best practices, concepts and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to achieve the desired goals, including the ability to monitor and support a team.
  • Good communications and writing skills in English.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in at least three of the following domains:
  • Public Key Infrastructure;
  • Cloud Security;
  • Identity and Access Management;
  • Cyber Security Monitoring;
  • Zero Trust;
  • Cyber Security Incident Management;
  • Vulnerability Assessment;
  • Threat Hunting;
  • Crypto Management and Logistics;
  • Boundary Protection.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience with TOGAF and Archimate is desirable.
  • It is highly desirable for the individual to hold relevant certifications, such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or GIAC Security.

EDUCATION

  • The individual must hold a Master’s of Science (MSc) degree from an accredited University in a related subject with 8 years post- related experience, or a Bachelor’s of Science (BSc) degree from an accredited University in a related subject and 11 years post related experience.
Responsibilities

The individual must be able to perform effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. The individual will be embedded in the Transform branch of the NCSC and will be supporting the establishment of the NCSC solution architecture service, as well as cyber security planning and design across various projects. Within the Transform Branch and reporting to the Solutions and Roadmap Service head, the duties of the individual will focus on:

Solution Architecture Service Support:

  • Support the establishment and execution of NCSC solution architecture service delivery as requested, including support to the development of architectural guidance and principles and support to the various NCSC solution architects.

Cybersecurity Coherence Support:

  • Support NCIA projects through the provisioning of architectural guidance, ensuring the application of coherent design and implementation approaches across the NCIA aligned with NCSC cyber security architecture.

Design Support:

  • Support NCSC architects and SMEs with the production of architectural design elements in support of current and future implementation projects.

Provisioning of Subject Matter Expertise in Support of Projects:

  • Support NCSC projects through the provisioning of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on various Cybersecurity topics, in collaboration and coordination with key NSCS stakeholders.
