Peraton is seeking a talented Linux Systems Administrator to join our high-impact Cyber Intelligence team in Laurel, MD. If you’re passionate about cutting-edge technology, cybersecurity, and mission-critical operations, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
What You’ll Do:

As a Linux Systems Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems that support national security initiatives. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the full lifecycle of IT systems, including installation, configuration, operations, and maintenance.
  • Monitoring and resolving issues across a wide array of platforms including servers, storage systems, networks, and mobile devices.
  • Delivering Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) technical support, identifying and diagnosing problems quickly and effectively.
  • Coordinating with internal teams and agency leadership to escalate issues and communicate status updates clearly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues related to dispatch systems and staying engaged throughout the resolution process.
  • Installing, configuring, and managing Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.
  • Enhancing system performance through upgrades, patching, and proactive system management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
  • Experience: 10 years of hands on experience as a Systems Administratior.
  • Education: Bachelor’s in a technical field (or 5 additional years of SA experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 compliant (Security+ preferred).
  • Technical Support:
  • Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Daily IT system operations support-monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining client/server, storage, network, and mobile devices.
  • Communicate issue status to agency leadership and internal users.
  • Optimize system performance and conduct resource utilization and capacity planning.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on UNIX/Linux system administration (Linux, Solaris).
  • Strong foundation in networking, distributed computing, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Basic scripting skills (Perl, Shell/Bourne).
  • Familiarity with Oracle database setup and integration.
  • Programming knowledge in C/C++, Perl, and DBMS.
  • Security+ and Red Hat certifications.
  • Experience with SaltStack automation for system configuration and management.
