POSITION OVERVIEW

The Cybersecurity Engineer III is a senior-level role responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure information systems within Department of Defense (DoD) environments. This position requires deep expertise in cybersecurity engineering, risk management, and compliance frameworks. The engineer will provide advanced technical leadership, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems while aligning with DoD cybersecurity directives and standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years professional experience in cybersecurity engineering.
  • Certifications: Information Assurance Management (IAM), Information Assurance Technical (IAT), or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level I certification (DoD 8570.1M compliant).
  • Clearance: TS/SCI preferred.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • In-depth knowledge of DoD cybersecurity directives, RMF processes, and A&A procedures.
  • Experience with software defined radio (SDR) and securing tactical/military communication systems.
  • Familiarity with NSA requirements and protection of critical program information.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Cybersecurity Policy and Compliance
  • Prepare, implement, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, including DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, and other relevant DoD security requirements.
  • System Protection and Monitoring
  • Plan, implement, and upgrade cybersecurity measures to maintain a cyber-resilient network.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents, restoring protections and producing required reports.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, identify risks, and implement remediation or mitigation strategies.
  • Develop technical documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Secure Systems Design
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure systems in alignment with DoD frameworks.
  • Apply expertise in configuration management, network security, and secure software development lifecycles.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate cybersecurity best practices into systems engineering.
  • Communicate technical security concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
