The Regional Genetics program at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley (THP) Site consists of both clinical and laboratory genetic services.  The Genetics Laboratory at THP is comprised of a group of Cytogeneticists (PhD), Genome Analysts, Technologists and Technicians working within a combined laboratory that supports cytogenetics, microarray and molecular testing.   The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with members of Genetics Laboratory, Clinical Genetics, Anatomical Pathology and other healthcare professionals in providing case interpretation, supporting scientific/technical oversight of genetic laboratory activities and participating in new test development and implementation.    Responsibilities and Duties Include: * Review of laboratory results and interpretation of cytogenomic data * Preparation of clinical diagnostic reports in accordance with laboratory policies, professional standards, and accreditation requirements. * Reviews of current medical literature thoroughly to ensure accuracy of reporting * Accountable for quality assurance, test development and method validation in collaboration with staff. * Supports the day-to-day clinical operations by providing guidance and direction to laboratory staff * Liaises with referring clinicians regarding test selection, interpretation and clinical significance of results.  * Collaborate with other regional clinical and laboratory geneticists * Maintains medical knowledge through medical literature review and continuing education (maintain MOC, as well as attending rounds, journal clubs and scientific meetings)  Qualifications: * PhD in genetics or a related field, and/or MD demonstrating expertise in clinical cytogenetics and/or clinical molecular genetics * Active Member of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) * Dual certification in molecular genetics and cytogenetics, or certification in Genetic and Genomic Diagnostics (CCMG) or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) is considered a plus * Experience in advanced genetic laboratory applications (array technologies, next generation sequencing) * Collaborative team player with excellence in oral and written communication * Advanced proficiency in critical thinking, problem solving and organization * Experience with maintaining quality indicators, proficiency and performance through external quality assessments * Experience in test development, validation, licensing and implementation * Proficiency with implementing bioinformatic pipelines and commercially available analytical  software     To pursue this career opportunity, please visit our website: www.trilliumhealthpartners.ca [http://www.trilliumhealthpartners.ca/]  Trillium Health Partners is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment.     In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Ontario Human Rights Code Trillium Health Partners will provide accommodations throughout the recruitment and selection process to applicants with disabilities.  If selected to participate in the recruitment and selection process, please inform Human Resources of the nature of any accommodation(s) that you may require in respect of any materials or processes used to ensure your equal participation.   All personal information is collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
