Description
The registered Cytologist examines cytology slides to appropriately mark and interpret cancer, neoplastic and benign findings for Cytopathologists. The registered cytologist confers with clinicians and provides adequacy evaluations for fine needle aspirations often simultaneously with a Cytopathologist. The other duties are extremely varied to include communicating with clinicians, preparing and triaging specimens for cytological evaluations and ancillary studies, using computer functions, participating in educational activities, performing statistical tasks and providing support for daily cytology laboratory needs. Participates in mandatory proficiency testing. Complies with CLIA mandatory workload regulations. The cytologist can independently provide negative results on gynecologic specimens when needed. CT ASCP certification required within one year from date of hire. Education Bachelor's Degree Required Other Successful completion of CAAHEP accredited Cytology program Required Experience 1 year experience as a Cytologist Preferred Licenses Amer Soc Clin Path-Cyto Required
