Dairy Manager Primary responsibilities To initiate and/or make recommendation regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion and evaluation of all Dairy Department personnel. To orient and train all new Dairy Department employees and retrain employees when necessary. To develop a weekly labor schedule for all Dairy Department employees for the approval of the store manager. Maintain company standards for perishables and stay up to date on all active safety procedures Transportation and stocking of goods within department Ensuring Health and Safety Codes, checking for pricing and expiration, and maintaining an organizational standard area. To check, record, and retain cooler/freezer temperatures and maintenance To follow the weekly display plan for case merchandising and ad promotion. Stay up to date and in congruence with Health and Safety standards, as well as holding a working knowledge of cleaning supplies and various chemicals and machines within the department To order all dairy products and supplies from authorized vendors to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired bakery turns Ability to comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions and descriptions concerning store policy and procedures, and usage of equipment. To supervise/perform organize the cooler/freezer/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and quality, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Dairy Department Manager reports directly to the Store Manager. Qualifications Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide) High School Diploma or Equivalent Prior supervisory experience Prior dairy experience Specific tasks Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 50 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems To supervise/perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily utilizing the time keeping system to record each check. Work Environment Note: Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
