Ideal Response is expanding, and we are looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on Mould and Damp Surveyor to join our restoration team. You will be responsible for conducting specialist inspections, identifying the root causes of mould and damp issues, and producing detailed reports and remediation strategies. Working closely with our cleaning, restoration, and decontamination teams, you will be a key technical lead in ensuring safe, compliant, and effective mould remediation in a range of commercial and domestic properties.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in surveying or inspecting properties for mould, damp, or water damage.
  • Background in restoration, construction, environmental health, or facilities management is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with commercial clients and insurance restoration projects preferred.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent knowledge of building construction and moisture dynamics.
  • Familiar with relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. HHSRS, HSE, BS 5250).
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competence in using diagnostic and reporting software.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK
  • Ability to work out-of-hours or emergency response jobs as required.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential properties affected by mould, damp, or water intrusion.
  • Identify types and sources of damp (rising, penetrating, condensation) and assess related structural or environmental conditions.
  • Carry out pre-remediation assessments and post-remediation verification inspections in line with industry standards.
  • Use industry-standard tools (e.g., moisture meters, hygrometers, thermal imaging) to collect environmental and structural data.
  • Prepare clear, professional reports including findings, root cause analysis, photos, moisture readings, and recommended action plans.
  • Provide technical input to cleaning and restoration teams to ensure effective and safe remediation based on your assessments.
  • Advise clients on preventative measures and long-term solutions to damp and mould recurrence.
  • Liaise with insurance companies, property managers, and commercial clients to explain reports, timelines, and scopes of work.
  • Ensure all survey work complies with relevant health and safety legislation, HSE guidance (e.g., EHCP), and internal quality standards.
  • Stay current with industry practices, legislation, and best practices related to indoor air quality, mould control, and building hygiene.
