Creative Dance Center is a successful dance studio in South Riding (Chantilly), VA, offering all levels of classes from beginner to pre-professional in contemporary, hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap and acrobatic arts.
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated instructor to teach jazz technique classes to our competitive team students (ages 7-13), and to teach jazz/hip hop classes to some beginner level students (ages 5-10). Candidates should have a strong focus in jazz technique and an ability to teach (or learn how to teach) basic/beginner hip hop. The Dance Instructor will play a pivotal role in developing students’ skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the art of dance.
Our work environment includes a supportive and respectful philosophy toward our staff, the dancers, and their families. Teachers work well together and foster a culture of cooperative interaction amongst the dancers.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging age and level-appropriate lessons in jazz technique, following a pre-set curriculum.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of the students.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to develop curriculum and enhance teaching techniques.
Skills:
- Strong dance background with the ability and experience to teach dance to children ages 5-13.
- Proficiency in dance, specifically jazz. Experience in hip hop is a plus, but the willingness to learn and teach very basic hip hop is a must.
- Excellent classroom management skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience and empathy when working with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Flexibility to adapt teaching methods and materials based on individual student needs.
