Description GENERAL SUMMARY PRN/AS NEEDED POSITION! The Data Abstractor is responsible for extracting, organizing, and abstracting clinical data from various sources. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient data, which is essential for clinical research, quality improvement, and healthcare decision-making. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collects and abstracts clinical data from electronic health records (EHRs), medical charts, and other relevant sources while adhering to established protocols and guidelines. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of abstracted data through thorough validation and verification processes. Enters abstracted data into databases and maintains accurate records of collected information. Stays updated with healthcare regulations and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards. Maintains detailed documentation of data abstraction processes and procedures for reference and auditing purposes. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, data analysts, and researchers to support various projects and initiatives. Generates and provides reports on abstracted data as required by internal stakeholders and external partners. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and contributes to enhancing data abstraction procedures. Resolves data discrepancies. Prepares for and is available for site audits. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS N/A KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical documentation, and healthcare procedures. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and data management tools. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain data accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Knowledge of healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA). Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field (e.g., Nursing, Health Information Management, Biology, or similar) preferred.
