Description
MTSI is seeking a Data Analyst & Visualization Specialist. The applicant selected for this role will develop and maintain data resources to support the execution of MTSI’s Engineering Department Initiatives: namely, the Innovation Program (IRAD), Capability Focus Areas (CFAs), Communities of Practice (COPs), and Workforce Development (WD). Specifically, there is a large amount of data that needs to be migrated from its current location on GetConnected to new SharePoint locations, in support of MTSI’s company-wide initiative to adopt an updated, Microsoft-based data storage strategy. This Analyst will help define the finished product’s architecture (with regards to Engineering Department sites and data products) and will support the migration of data products from GetConnected to SharePoint. This Analyst will also leverage the use of Power BI, PowerApps, Teams, SharePoint, and/or similar tools to build out automation and reporting capabilities that may be used to increase the visibility and accessibility of IRAD, CFA, COP, and WD data. Ultimately, these products might be used to give company-wide updates (e.g., Quarterly IRAD PMRs) from a set of Power BI dashboards, such that PowerPoint briefs no longer need to be developed as programmatic deliverables and archived data products. To that extent, this Analyst will also help facilitate Engineering Department meetings, such as the semi-annual Technical Leadership Workshops, quarterly IRAD PMRs, monthly IRAD Lunch & Learns, quarterly CFA updates, and periodic COP Lunch & Learns. For this applicant, a working familiarity with Power BI, PowerApps, and SharePoint is critical. The ideal applicant not only understands how to source data products, build out automation, and develop products for reporting, but they will also be self-motivated and capable of developing new skills as needed to support Engineering Department initiatives. The ideal applicant also understands how to propose a data architecture and manage a database, in support of program objectives. Roles and Responsibilities: Support the migration of Engineering Department data from GetConnected to SharePoint: This will include the design, development, and support of several landing pages, in addition to working to support the transfer of files to the new location. Design/architect data solutions: Lead the development of data storage solutions that facilitate automation, updating, and reporting of key program data. Lead the development of dashboards that may be used for company-wide updates. Manage data products: Oversee the data storage solution and its products Work to make sure data products are accurate and current Propose and implement process and architecture improvements as appropriate Support related Workforce Development activities, as appropriate: Expertise in data management and digital engineering may be leveraged to support curriculum development and training opportunities Support tracking and reporting of student completion of classes Support company-wide engagements led by the Engineering Department: Technical Leadership Workshops, Innovation Program (IRAD) Management Reviews, and Capability Focus Area updates Required Experience/Education : At least 3 years of recent experience working in data analysis Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or computing related field Strong written and verbal communications skills Effective public speaker, able to present and explain technical information to a group Experience with Power BI and SharePoint Programming experience Preferred Experience: Master’s degree in engineering, science, or computing related field Extensive experience with Power BI Familiarity with Power Apps Experience managing SharePoint repositories Demonstrated experience managing large data sets and developing visual products (e.g., dashboards) for communicating results Experience with SQL Location : This position can be done fully remote with the exception of the travel required for occasional in-person meetings.
