About this position This position is a chance to help shape how a mission-driven nonprofit uses data to strengthen communities. As part of a new and developing data team, you’ll transform organizational data into engaging stories and meaningful insights that support strategic planning, program evaluation, and operational effectiveness. This position is responsible for the design and leadership of BI (Business Intelligence) reporting, metrics strategy, and engagement with stakeholders across the organization. The data analyst leads in the effort of turning data into dashboards, reports, and visual tools to help the organization understand what’s happening and make informed decisions. This role will serve as a critical bridge between business users, program staff and technical teams, ensuring that reporting solutions are clear and accessible and provide useful insights aligned with business objectives. What you’ll be doing Scoping, defining, and managing innovative reporting solutions to meet a wide range of needs for programmatic data; Collaborating with department leaders and managers to understand business objectives, define key metrics, and document reporting requirements; Building and managing end-to-end dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics in Power BI Overseeing the Power BI Service platform, including security standards, report permissions, audience settings, workspace organization, and refresh schedules; Maintaining databases and documentation to support quality and efficiency; Conducting ad-hoc analyses to answer business questions and generate evidence-based insights; Developing workshops, demos, user guides and other resources to facilitate user adoption of self-service analytics and BI solutions; Facilitating stakeholder meetings and reviews to monitor user engagement and ensure reporting solutions are accurate, performant, and responsive to business needs; Partnering with data, program, and technical teams to analyze and troubleshoot data issues and workflows and ensure that the BI environment is optimized for performance and functionality; Supporting the collection and cleaning of data from multiple sources, with meticulous attention to identifying and resolving data discrepancies; Defining KPIs, metrics, and calculations; Creating semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, and calculated tables; Authoring data dictionaries, business rule guides, and report navigation tips; Identifying opportunities to incorporate automation into existing processes, using AI-driven solutions as appropriate; Participating in training and ongoing professional development activities; Actively participate in Options for Learning’s annual in-service training; Abide by all of Options for Learning’s policies; Supervise, evaluate, and support skill development of one data specialist; Perform other duties as assigned. What you bring to the table Bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, or related field; Minimum of two years of direct experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI (preferred) or a similar BI tool; Advanced knowledge of data visualization concepts and tools; Advanced technical and analytical proficiency, including tools and skills such as SQL, Power Query, Power Automate, PowerBI, DAX/Python/R, Excel, and data modeling; Strong proficiency in basic and applied statistics and data analysis procedures; Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams; Experience gathering and validating business requirements, creating user stories, and generating documentation; Ability to manage multiple projects independently, meet deadlines, and adapt flexibly to evolving needs and priorities; Experience in a data leadership role, whether directly supervising or coordinating others in the design and delivery of BI solutions. Experience with Process modeling (e.g., BPMN, flowcharts)(preferred); Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) (preferred); Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment (preferred).
