Job description:

We are looking for a Data Analyst with strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with modern data analysis and visualisation tools, and working knowledge of Python. The role centers on transforming data into insights that support operational, commercial, and digital decision-making.


Experience in the Oil & Gas domain is preferred, particularly exposure to subsurface, wells, or production-related data, but strong analytical capability and the ability to work with complex datasets are the primary requirements.


This profile operates at the intersection of data analytics and business decision-making, working with complex datasets to deliver actionable insights. The role involves:


- Collaboration with business, domain, and technical teams across operational and commercial functions

- Working with modern analytics platforms and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Python)

- Supporting data-driven decision-making through clear communication of analytical findings

- Contributing to data literacy and self-service analytics initiatives within the organization

- Working with structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources


Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Insights

- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights

- Develop clear and actionable analyses to support business and operational decisions

- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and statistical analysis

- Translate stakeholder questions into analytical approaches and outputs


Reporting & Visualisation

- Design and maintain dashboards and reports using industry-standard BI tools

- Ensure insights are communicated clearly through visual storytelling

- Automate recurring reports and analytical workflows


Data Preparation & Quality

- Clean, transform, and validate datasets from multiple sources

- Work with structured and semi-structured data

- Support data quality checks and consistency across reports


Collaboration & Enablement

- Work closely with business, domain, and technical stakeholders

- Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists where needed

- Contribute to data literacy and self-service analytics initiatives


Required Skills & Experience

Data Analysis & Visualisation

- Strong experience with data analysis and visualisation tools, such as: Power BI and/or Tableau

- Excel (advanced functions, Power Query, pivot tables)

- Solid SQL skills for querying relational databases

- Experience performing statistical and descriptive analysis


Python & Analytics

- Working knowledge of Python for data analysis

- Experience with libraries such as: Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib and/or Seaborn

- Ability to automate data preparation and analysis tasks


Data Platform Experience

- Experience working with data warehouses or data lakes

- Understanding of data models and data structures


Preferred Technical Skills

- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure and/or AWS)

- Experience in Oil & Gas or energy-related domains

- Exposure to subsurface, wells, production, or operational datasets


Professional Competencies

- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

- Ability to communicate insights to non-technical audiences

- Attention to detail and data accuracy

- Proactive and collaborative working style

- Ability to manage multiple priorities


Educational Background & Experience Level

- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field

- 3-6+ years of experience in a data analyst or business analyst role


Additional Qualifications

- Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices

- Experience working in agile or product-oriented teams

- Knowledge of industry-specific Oil & Gas data standards
