Responsibilities

SOME OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Build & Maintain Data Pipelines: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using DBT, Fivetran, and Snowflake. You’ll be responsible for the ELT process, from ingestion with tools like Segment and Fivetran to transformation and modeling.

  • Ensure Data Integrity: Proactively monitor our data stack, debug pipeline failures, and troubleshoot data quality issues. You’ll implement data quality tests and anomaly detection to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data.

  • Data Modeling & Warehousing: Apply data modeling best practices to structure data in Snowflake, creating clean, well-documented, and performant data models that are easy for stakeholders to use.
  • Empower Stakeholders: Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and other business stakeholders to understand their data needs. You will write high quality SQL queries to provide them with the data and insights required for their analysis and reporting in tools like Metabase and Mixpanel.
  • Optimize & Improve: Continuously work to improve the performance and efficiency of our data infrastructure. This includes optimizing queries, refactoring DBT models, and improving pipeline run times.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for our data models, pipelines, and internal processes to support data governance and knowledge sharing across the team.

THE SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

  • SQL Proficiency: You have strong command of SQL and can write complex, efficient queries. You understand window functions, CTEs, and query optimization.

  • Python Experience: You are proficient in Python for data manipulation (using libraries like Pandas) and scripting for data-related tasks.

  • Data Warehousing Knowledge: You have hands-on experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, such as Redshift and Snowflake.
  • ETL/ELT/Reverse ETL Understanding: You have a solid grasp of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT/Reverse ETL processes and data pipeline architecture.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You are a natural troubleshooter who enjoys digging into complex data issues to find the root cause and implement a solution.
