Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our team in Darwin, NT, to support our mission of enhancing industrial capability through strategic data analysis and business intelligence. As a Data Analyst at ICN NT, you will play a key role in our organisation, working as part of a close-knit team of three within a broader group of 14 professionals. You will collaborate with interstate analysts and developers on various data-driven projects. Your responsibilities will include daily database activities and the delivery of comprehensive analytical reports to both internal and external stakeholders. You will be involved in data analytics initiatives from inception to completion, transforming, querying, and delivering data to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications for Power BI solutions.
  • Set up processes to securely collect, store, process, and validate data, ensuring integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Extract, manipulate, and interpret data from diverse sources to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Build, update, and maintain Power BI dashboards and databases to ensure accurate and accessible information for stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data, identifying and correcting errors as necessary.
  • Apply statistical methods and analytical techniques to extract insights, solve complex problems, and answer data-related queries.
  • Use tools such as Power BI, Python, R, Git Hub, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio code to uncover business insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyse datasets to identify key economic, industrial, and business trends relevant to the Northern Territory market.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate analytical findings to stakeholders.
  • Write custom scripts in Python, SQL, or R to automate tasks, enhance workflows, and improve efficiency in data processing.
  • Follow and implement data management processes to ensure the ethical use of data and compliance with data governance standards.
  • Actively seek opportunities for streamlining and enhancing work systems and processes to optimise results.
  • Provide training and support to end-users of delivered reports and dashboards, ensuring effective usage.
  • Maintain awareness of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements, particularly when working with sensitive or confidential data.
  • Work on projects under the guidance of the national Chief Technology Officer, contributing to strategic data initiatives.
