JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Data Analyst III Grants and Research position reports to the MUSC Health Grants and Research Director in support of MUSC’s academic, research and healthcare missions. Under indirect supervision, the Data Analyst III – Grants and Research position provides a variety of operational, consultative and collaborative functions within the Grants and Research Office. This position assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of the analytics program supporting decision making, strategy, performance improvement, and other key operational goals through valid, relevant, and quality decision support reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools. Provides proactive and reactive support while maintaining a professional attitude and exhibiting excellent customer service skills. Participates in team and project support, providing proactive and reactive solutions with input on intelligent solutions. Key system responsibilities and tools include Smartsheet, Tableau, Cayuse, OurDay, OnCore, EPIC, and other supporting data management software.

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience: 3-5 years in business management, Research or Grants Administrative Services, and working in an academic medical center. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Preferred experience in Smartsheet, Ourday, Tableau, grants, and successful track record working with other team members to develop strategic solutions to consolidating data from various platforms.

Responsibilities

This is a new position to support MUHA’s growing research and sponsored awards. The Grants and Research Office needs a Data Analyst to assist with tracking this data by creating databases to effectively manage growth with an emphasis on compliance, performance improvement, and successful integration of the separate data tracking systems within MUSC and MUHA. We need solutions to integrate the “source” data into one common database.

Organizational, time management, problem solving skills required. Responsibilities include:

  • 25 % - Develop dashboards, charts, and master schedules for grant, and contract deliverables. Automate reminders to grant managers and other team members.
  • 20% - Develop and maintain a master award summary database containing key tracking metrics for the Grants and Research Office.
  • 15% - Generate an inventory of provider agreement contracts, level of effort analysis and financial compensation projection models using historical data by organization, award commitments, and sponsored projects resource allocation.
  • 10% - Assist GCA Financial Grants Administrator with automating sponsored award invoices, tracking payments, and executive summaries for RHN Chief Medical Officers and Chief Financial Officers.
  • 10% - Coordinate with PI and other study team members on the design of data collection, quality control, data transfer, data management, and execute reporting and other queries to meet project timelines.
  • 10% - Work with ORSP and OCR data analyst on ways to share sponsored award data elements with an emphasis on efficiency, utilization of funds management, and sponsor deliverable requirements.
  • 10% - Other special project and duties assigned.
