We’re looking for a Data Analyst who not only enjoys exploring data but also understands that data quality is the foundation of meaningful insights.
In this role you will help to deliver and improve the Ministry’s collection, processing and reporting of strategically important data which supports our monitoring of the education system performance and provides insights which drive policy initiatives to improve outcomes for tamariki.
Our Data Analysts must identify and problem-solve data integrity issues, communicate effectively with stakeholders and deliver high quality data to deadlines.
In this role, you’ll work with a collaborative and supportive team supporting both internal and external stakeholders and will have a wide range of tasks and responsibilities.
Salary range: $74,015 - $89,547 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following capabilities and competencies:

  • A conscientious and meticulous approach to data validation and quality assurance.
  • A good working knowledge of data-processing, and practical application of SQL for managing and manipulating data. Knowledge of SAS would also be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, particularly Excel.
  • Have confident and strong engagement and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver data and support to the wider Ministry and the sector.
  • A good knowledge of the early learning sector would be a bonus.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct
