JOB SUMMARY

With a heritage dating back to the 1930s and based in HM Naval Base Portsmouth, 1710 Naval Air Squadron is a mixed Civil Service and Tri-Service Military team of technical specialists from multidisciplinary backgrounds. We use scientific and engineering reasoning to overcome UK Ministry of Defence aircraft operational issues spanning operations across the globe, enhancing aviation and general military capability. We are currently leading the development and application of Data Exploitation and AI projects within the UK MoD Aviation domain and need further support to grow the capability available to frontline.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As our Data Analyst you will analyse and synthesise data whilst providing active input into the development of programs and software in support of Data Exploitation activities. You will be responsible for delivering data management and produce applicable data models, whilst applying available technology, but also looking to integrating new and emergent ways to solve problems. You will be maintaining and updating already developed software and models and integrate modern approaches and standard methodology. As part of a quality management service, you will identify the most appropriate way to collate and prepare data, as well as visualising the output.
Travel opportunities to additional sites, off-site trials, conferences, and visits to external partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek applicants with strong English and Maths skills and a Level 3 qualification within a digital related field, or a minimum of three years equivalent practical experience related to a digital and data domain.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Data Analyst within our team, your role will include:

  • Analyse and synthesise data
  • Performing ETL mapping within data integration disciplines.
  • Develop an internal approach of data management, including data sources: organisation and storage: and provide solutions of potential analytical techniques exploiting the data
  • Perform validation checks
  • Interpret customer requirements and visually present data in an effective manner
  • Defining and implementing detailed data archive strategies to assure the integrity of data
  • Providing expert advice and support to Navy Command, and other Front-Line Commands, on the operation and exploitation of aviation data
  • Support the team in further underpinning an expert data exploitation capability within a fresh and innovative department
