As a Data Analyst (Performance Reporting and Analysis), you’ll play a vital role in supporting evidence-based decisions through data insights that strengthen operational preparedness and emergency response. As a key member of the Performance Reporting & Analysis team, you’ll be responsible for turning operational data into meaningful performance intelligence that supports strategic planning and continuous improvement. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the collation, integration and validation of data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Develop and maintain regular performance reporting products that track key business intelligence metrics, including hazard reduction activity, incident response times, resource utilisation, and operational outcomes.

  • Design and manage business intelligence dashboards to support real-time corporate performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the development of data modelling tools and systems that underpin key business initiatives, such as the Bushfire Preparation and Engagement Dashboard (BPED).
  • Partner with operational and support teams across the organisation to define KPIs, data needs, and performance standards.

TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Data Analytics, Information Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting – ideally within a government or emergency services context.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical capabilities in data analysis tools such as SQL, SPSS, SAS, Excel and MS Access
  • Proven ability to deliver complex reporting products that are clear, accurate, and aligned to organisational goals.
