Responsibilities

THE OPPORTUNITY: WHY THIS ROLE?

Wayflyer is rapidly expanding, launching new products, developing new partnerships, and exploring channels to provide funding to more businesses, including those beyond traditional e-commerce. As our Data Analytics Manager, you’ll be at the heart of this evolution, shaping the insights that drive our strategic decisions across these new frontiers. We are looking for a technical manager who is not afraid to get hands-on and delve into the details with their team. You will lead and empower a talented team of 6+ Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts, responsible for transforming complex data into actionable intelligence.

This is a critical role where you will:

  • Drive Impact: Directly influence key business areas like risk assessment, product development, customer growth, and operational efficiency through data-driven insights, supporting our expansion efforts.
  • Build & Scale: Own and evolve our modern data stack (centred on Snowflake and dbt), ensuring our analytics capabilities scale with Wayflyer’s rapid growth and diversification.
  • Lead & Mentor: Develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the data function.
  • Shape Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for analytics, ensuring tight alignment with Wayflyer’s core objectives and becoming a trusted advisor to leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts, promoting individual development and maximizing team impact. Define roles, responsibilities, and career paths within the team.
  • Strategic Roadmap: Develop, own, and execute the strategic roadmap for data analytics and business intelligence, prioritising initiatives that deliver maximum value to Wayflyer.
  • Technical Oversight & Data Platform: Oversee the architecture, development, and maintenance of our analytics infrastructure, including our Snowflake Data Warehouse and our dbt-centric transformation layer. Ensure data quality, governance, scalability, and performance.
  • Insight Generation & Delivery: Partner closely with stakeholders across Product, Risk, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to understand their needs, translate them into analytical requirements, and deliver actionable insights through reports, dashboards, and deep-dive analyses.
  • Best Practices & Process Optimisation: Champion and implement best practices in analytics engineering, data modelling, data governance, testing, and documentation to improve data reliability and team efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Act as a key data evangelist across the company. Clearly articulate complex findings, analytical approaches, and strategic recommendations to diverse audiences, including functional leaders (VPs) and C-level executives (CTO, CBO, CFO, etc.).
