Location: Verona
Department: Flight Operations
The vacancy role is intended primarily to provide analytical support to the development of AI tools (primarily based on ML, DL and LLM) for the Company. The role will be part of a research team with the aim of developing the future of AI tools and methods applied to an airline. The resource will be encouraged to provide creative solutions to well known problems. Most of the methods to be developed are expected not to be found anywhere else in the aviation sector. Balanced charisma and attitude will be enough to steer project development decisions in a supportive whilst testing environment.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

• Support the development of brand new methods and techniques in the field of ML, DL and LLM’s for an airline;
• Assist the team with data mining across various available datasets;
• Streamline and automate work processes;
• Collaborate with Lufthansa work groups on related projects.

Requirements:

  • MSc Degree (engineering, mathematics, physics or computer science with a focus on machine learning or artificial intelligence). Students currently enrolled in a Master’s program, particularly those seeking a thesis project opportunity, are also encouraged to apply;
  • Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning algorithms and techniques (dimensionality reduction, regularization techniques, classification, regression and clustering algorithms, neural networks);
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (Python, Tensorflow and/or PyTorc);
  • Ability to extract data from various sources (databases, text files, sensors);
  • Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken (German would be considered a plus);
  • Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Multidisciplinary abilities (several tasks require creative thinking to be solved);
  • Aviation-related knowledge is not required, though personal interest in the field will be considered a plus.
